Rapper Claims He’s Being Sued for Blatantly Ripping Off Iron Maiden
Sometimes it’s just hilarious to see people fuck around and immediately find out. Especially when they go around trying to steal art from one of the biggest heavy metal bands on the planet.
Such is the case for rapper OsamaSon and his brilliant idea to straight up rip off Iron Maiden‘s iconic mascot Eddie. As you can see from the image above, there’s no way you can claim something like parody or fair use for what the rapper wanted to use for the cover of his FLXTRA album, since it pretty much just looks like a Photoshopped version of the Powerslave cover art.
Just a quick comparison side by side will show that the images are almost identical in content, with just a few details like the fake Eddie’s smile and added dreadlocks poking out of the mummy wraps. Hell, they didn’t even try to hide the exact same lightning patterns in the background. It literally just looks like they did a color swap and that was it.
As a result of all this, the rapper took to social media announcing that he was being (rightfully) sued by Iron Maiden and that the cover art would be changing. It’s one thing to rip off Cattle Decapitation, but to try something like that with a band as big as Maiden is just silly — of course they’ve got the money to take your ass to court.
