YEE-HAW! SLAYER GONE COUNTRY
The below is by some band called Acid Drinkers, and while it begins as a fairly straight-forward cover of Slayer’s “Seasons in the Abyss,” around the 1:02 mark, it pretty much turns into a hoedown fest. It’s not as terrible as you might think, because it’s rooted in what I’d call “real” country music — e.g., not the country pop-rock that is so often referred to as “country” these days. (Sorry, but Faith Hill and Garth Brooks or whomever have about as much to do with country as Kenny G. has to do with jazz.) I mean, I’m not saying I’d actively listen to this. I’m just saying, I’ve heard worse music today.
