Sumac Return with New Single “Yellow Dawn,” Announce New Album The Healer
For post-metal act Sumac, 2024’s a big year. It’s their 10th anniversary and while they’ve already played a handful of shows to commemorate the occasion, they’re hitting the year even harder with the announcement earlier today that they’ve got a new album titled The Healer due for release on June 21.
Comprised of just four tracks over 76 minutes, this new album sees the trio of guitarist/vocalist Aaron Turner, bassist Brian Cook, and drummer Nick Yacyshyn putting out new tunes that seek to explore “the parallel experiences of creation and destruction.” With each track apparently presenting a different shifting emotion and movement, the band says the new music constantly shifts to express those aforementioned experiences.
In addition to the album’s release this summer, the band’s got plans to go on tour throughout North America, with a special stop planned at the Vancouver International Jazz Festival. You can find the full list of dates, as well as some information about the new album below.
The Healer will be out on June 21, but you can preorder your copy today.
