Extreme Metal Band XclocktowerX Goes Viral for Fairly Normal Antics
Extreme metal/hardcore band XclocktowerX out of Connecticut put on what is apparently their first show of their career on March 10 opening for Balmora at some place called The Hoff in Holyoke, MA (which, judging from the video, appears to just be somebody’s basement) and the video of their first show went viral because of some antics towards the end of their set.
It seems to have been a typical extreme metal show that went a little more extreme than usual as the drummer, seemingly out of nowhere, threw his cymbal and stand into the crowd, which the crowd subsequently started throwing around. Then the rest of the members started throwing their instruments into the crowd, and crowd members started destroying them. There’s even some moments where the band members start exchanging punches.
The video has mostly gone viral because people who have never been to any sort of hardcore or extreme music show are losing their complete fucking shit over seeing what goes on at actual shows. Several hardcore fans on the site that I refuse to stop calling Twitter are pointing out that this is, at best, a slightly above average amount of chaos for a show like this.
You’ll notice nobody in the video seems to be too bothered by the end of the destruction. Nobody’s crying in a corner or continuing to yell at anyone about what happened, because it was exactly what’s supposed to happen at a show like this. Then someone puts a little pirate shanty on over the speakers and someone starts doing a little jig and the mood shifts and everything is back to normal.
Hopefully this video continues to gain traction by shocked Karens until Lauren Boebert or someone sees it and we have congressional hearings on how rock music is violent, wasting everyone’s valuable time in the process.
