New High On Fire Single “Burning Down” Coming This Friday

0

As if we needed more reason to wish it was already Friday, stoner metal stalwarts and GRAMMY winners High On Fire revealed that we’ll be getting a new track titled “Burning Down” that day. It’ll be the first new song off their as of yet unannounced follow up to 2018’s Electric Messiah.

The announcement was made on the band’s Instagram account, where they not only shared a short, yet super fuzzy snippet of the song, but also included a bit of the included music video with it.

We’ve known for a while that High On Fire was working on new material, as both bassist Jeff Matz and frontman Matt Pike have openly talked about it in the past. In fact, we’ve been lead to believe that the album’s been done as far back as last June. Naturally a lot of extra work goes into releasing an album, so that explains the delay, but damn it I know I’m not alone in wanting the new High On Fire album in my hands yesterday.

Last month, Matz was pictured holding two test pressings of the new album. In the social media post, Matz said the pressings sounded great.

“I just listened to the vinyl test press of the new High On Fire album, it sounds incredible and I can’t wait for you all to hear it. Kurt Ballou and Alan Douches really helped make this a sonically striking piece of work.”

All we have to do now is wait for this Friday. I wouldn’t be shocked if we learned about the new album at the same time, but for now we should get hyped for the new song at the very least.

In addition to the new album’s eventual release, the band also has some summer European tour dates lined up. The tour will kick off on June 4 in Brno, Czechia and come to an end on July 6 in Vienna, Austria. The full list of dates can be found below, with links to get your tickets included.
