Kanye West Cut that Black Sabbath Sample from His Song, Responds to Ozzy Like a Weirdo
Last Friday, the music world saw two titans collide when Black Sabbath vocalist Ozzy Osbourne blasted anti-Semitic piece of shit and rapper Kanye West for using an unauthorized sample of “Iron Man” during an album listening party, as well as in a song. Well it just so happens that after being called out, the rapper cut the sample from the album, replacing it with a Sabbath-esque bass line.
It’s a natural conclusion to something like this, as Kanye may be a hateful piece of shit, but he’s not dumb enough to risk a hefty lawsuit — especially after all his hate-filled garbage has cost him a lot of money. To get around the sample issue during an album listening party on Long Island, the rapper and his Vultures album collaborator Ty Dolla $ign played West’s 2010 song “Hell of a Life,” which features a legally obtained sample of “Iron Man.”
That would be the end of it normally, but Kanye just can’t leave things alone. In an Instagram story posted to his account, which you can check out below, he shared what looks like a screenshot of a text message he sent. In it, he shares a photo of Ozzy and his wife Sharon Osbourne dressed as the rapper and his wife Bianca Censori for Halloween. In a followup text, West said: “He obviously has a celebrity handler who’s on his account.”
Remember, this isn’t the first time West has gotten involved in some way with the metal world. It wasn’t even a month ago that he was pictured wearing a Burzum shirt, which naturally generated some controversy. It became such huge news that convicted aronist, murder, and self-described racist Kristian “Varg” Vikernes praised West for his “courage.”
Now, I don’t know if it’s too hard to believe, but Ozzy might actually dislike West and his anti-Semitic bullshit. I mean, he was born three years after World War II ended, so his immediate family definitely lived through the German blitz of England — especially if they were living in Birmingham at the time. So there’s definitely no love lost there for Nazis and their garbage ideology.
As you may recall, Ozzy (or his handler, who knows) definitely didn’t mince words when it came to Kanye’s recent behavior.
“[Kanye West] ASKED PERMISSION TO SAMPLE A SECTION OF A 1983 LIVE PERFORMANCE OF ‘IRON MAN’ FROM THE US FESTIVAL WITHOUT VOCALS & WAS REFUSED PERMISSION BECAUSE HE IS AN ANTISEMITE AND HAS CAUSED UNTOLD HEARTACHE TO MANY. HE WENT AHEAD AND USED THE SAMPLE ANYWAY AT HIS ALBUM LISTENING PARTY LAST NIGHT. I WANT NO ASSOCIATION WITH THIS MAN!”
We’ll see if any more barbs are thrown between these two. Hopefully we’ll be done talking about Kanye on a metal website for a while now, though.
