Brodequin’s New Track “Suffocation in Ash” is a Malicious Reminder of Their Unrelenting Sound
After two decades since their last major release, Brodequin has slowly been reminding all of us just how brutal their sound really can be. Last month the band released the first single titled “Of Pillars and Trees” off their upcoming album Harbinger of Woe but today…. Well, today marks the unveiling of another pants-shittingly heavy song from the brutal death metal outfit with the release of their latest track “Suffocation in Ash.”
Like the sonic version of some chemical weapon banned by international law, this track goes so hard that it leaves a trail of victims in its wake. It’s non-stop, it’s unrelenting, and it’s brutal as fuck. Brodequin bassist and vocalist Jamie Bailey said the song’s about some fucked up old school execution method, which makes sense since most of their work revolves around the gruesome reality of medieval history.
“I sought to shed light on an execution method rooted in antiquity. This specific technique often escapes the attention of those intrigued by these kinds of historical practices. Lyrically, my aim was to transport the listener into the vivid depiction of the scene I attempt to portray.
“Basically, the victim, who’s held in a tower that’s specifically designed for this sort of thing, is immersed in ash.”
