GREEN JELLY REUNION PROVES THAT THE 90’S WEREN’T SO MUCH BETTER THAN THE 80’S
Green Jelly – the “joke” band who counted Tool’s Maynard James Keenan and Danny Carey amongst their ranks, and whose album Cereal Killer dominated an unfortunately large chunk of our youths – will reunite to play Milwaukee Metal Fest on June 7 (and re-release some of their old shit in order to capitalize on the reunion, natch). No word on whether or not Keenan and/or Carey will be involved, although I highly doubt it.
In case for some reason you don’t remember this band, they were originally called Green Jell-O before the makers of Jell-O brand gelatin got involved and threatened to sue. They had one major MTV hit, the totally ridiculous “Three Little Pigs,” but for those of us who actually bought their entire video*, we also got to enjoy such masterworks as the title track, which was about a serial killer of cereal mascots named “Toucan Son of Sam.”
Sigh. Oh, the 90’s. Only slightly less embarrassing than the 80’s.
Check out some videos after the jump.

*And they did, indeed, release a home video with a clip for every single song on their album – in fact, it came out before the album proper, probably because the band recognized that, like Gwar, they could only benefit from being enjoyed visually rather than just aurally.
