Transit Method Stream New Single from Upcoming Album
Prog-metallers Transit Method just shared a new single and video, “Another Wasted Life,” from their upcoming album Othervoid, which will be out February 2.
The Austin, Texas-based band filmed the song live on their home turf, at Independence Brewery in Austin. The video was directed by Justin Wilson. It showcases the band having fun and playing a low-key, relatable local show in a favorite haunt, which is very on band for their overall vibe. Unlike a lot of prog bands, they don’t see to take themselves too seriously.
“‘Another Wasted Life’ was a great collaborative exercise in building a song backward. [Bassist Charlie Anderson] first presented the gnarled outro riff, which we offset with the slower, grinding riffs that make up the bulk of the song. Austin has a robust doom metal scene, and the first half of the song is a nod to that. Factor in the melodic choruses and thrashy, double-bass ending, and it’s a great sampler of Transit Method’s unique strengths.”
The record was was produced by Charles Godrey at Scary American Studios in Austin, TX (Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Third Eye Blind, etc.), mastered by Dan Shike at Tone and Volume Mastering (Meat Puppets, Third Eye Blind, Larkin Poe) and features album art from Marald van Haasteren (Metallica, Kvelertak, GosT). It’s available for preorder now along with some great merch.
The band will also be playing a special Othervoid record release show on February 2 at Hotel Vegas in Austin, TX for those in the area. We’re looking forward to hearing more from the group when the record drops. Hopefully they’ll be planning some 2024 tour dates as well.
