Rage Against the Machine Hangs It Up Again, Won’t Play Any More Reunion Shows

This is a major bummer day for any Rage fans who still haven’t seen their favorite band live. Rage Against the Machine just made an official statement that they’re done with touring and shows for the foreseeable future.

It’s not surprising that the band feel this way. After all, when they finally embarked on their reunion tour last July, vocalist Zack De La Rocha tour his ACL on stage, cancelled their European tour, and then had to abandon the rest of their North American dates due to the severity of the injury.

It was also noteworthy for those interested in the band that the only member who turned up when Rage Against the Machine were inducted to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame was guitarist Tom Morello. And this new announcement comes from Brad Wilk, who brings the news that the band will no longer play shows or tour anymore in the coming years.

In his statement, he explains:

“I know a lot of people are waiting for us to announce new tour dates for all the canceled RATM shows. I don’t want to string people or myself along any further. So while there has been some communication that this may be happening in the future… I want to let you know that RATM (Tim, Zack, Tom and I) will not be touring or playing live again. I’m sorry for those of you who have been waiting for this to happen. I really wish it was…”

While he doesn’t share specific reasons why, we can guess that it has to do with how badly this last tour went and the fact that the band members all have their own family and lives. However, the mysterious one-man-showing to the Hall of Fame and this unexplained statement that also lists the band members has fans wondering if another iteration of the band will get together to tour in the future.

Whatever their reasoning, the band are certainly entitled to step down whenever they see fit, but fans will surely be mourning this one.
