Watch Striker’s Tim Brown and John Simon Fallon Shred Through “BEST of the BEST of the BEST”
Canadian 80s metal outfit Striker have a new album titled ULTRAPOWER coming out this coming February, so to remind you to get enough Aqua Net in preparation, they’ve posted a guitar playthrough of their new track “BEST of the BEST of the BEST.”
Armed with their appropriately 80s looking guitars and the sickest Pit Vipers this side of Saskatchewan, guitarists Tim Brown and John Simon Fallon ham it up and rip through the track. In a statement that ran alongside the YouTube video, the latter shredmeister asked a pretty poignant, yet simple question.
“If you’re not simultaneously leaping into the bed of a truck while it’s doing a burnout as you rip through a killer riff, are you even shredding?”
Touché.
In addition to the playthrough video, the band unveiled the artwork and tracklisting for ULTRAPOWER. The album’s due out on February 2, 2024, so there’s plenty of time to gawk at both. In fact, the band itself expects that kind of reaction.
“ULTRAPOWER is the amalgamation of five years of writing and exploring music. With influences from AOR to Speed Metal, Hardcore to Hair Metal, Steely Dan to Deathcore, you name it, it made its way into the album. In the end with the help of Josh Schroeder’s guiding hand, we melted it all together to present something uniquely Striker. Lyrically we’ve stuck to the Striker tradition of writing montage songs for movies that don’t exist, songs about our spiraling serfdom, and lyrics about the evils that lurk in the shadows.”
So check out the playthrough below, as well as the album’s first single “Circle of Evil” below. ULTRAPOWER will be out on February 2, 2024, but you can preorder/Kickstart your copy today.
