Thotcrime Drummer Dot Homler Passed Away
(Editor’s note: This article has been edited to correct the misgendering of Dot Homler. The current version now uses the correct pronouns. Such an error isn’t taken lightly on this website, as we’ve long been proponents of the idea that metal is for everyone. We pledge to do better moving forward and hope Homler’s loved ones accept our sincerest apologies for any additional grief this has caused.)
Over the weekend, cybergrind/hardcore outfit thotcrime had the extremely unfortunate task of announcing to the world that their drummer Dot Homler unexpectedly passed away.
The somber announcement was made through the band’s official social media channels.
“Earlier this week we were informed that Dot unexpectedly passed away.
“Dot was not only an incredibly talented musician, but an irreplacable friend. Hir enthusiasm and humor lit up every room sie entered, and hir relentless positivity was an inspiration to all of us. We are all absolutely heartbroken by this loss.
“At this time we would prefer not to engage with any discussion regarding the future of the band. We will have more to share once we have all had time to process what’s happened. We ask that you please respect the privacy of hir family and friends during this difficult time.
“We will love you forever.”
At this time, there’s no information regarding hir cause of death. Homler had been the drummer since the beginning, having been the drummer of record on their 2020 release ønyøurcømputer. Sie was most recently featured on the band’s sophomore studio release D1G1T4L_DR1FT, which was released this past October via Prosthetic Records.
Our deepest condolences go out to Homler’s friends, family, and bandmates during this incredibly difficult time.
