Twitching Tongues’ Former Drummer Mike Cesario to Fill-In Following Cayle Sain’s Passing
Less than a week has passed since news of the untimely and shocking death of Twitching Tongues‘ drummer Cayle Sain broke. It’s hard to imagine the amount of grief his friends, family members, and bandmates must be going through right now, but for the time being, we know how the band is planning to meet their upcoming commitments.
According to a post on the band’s official Twitter account, former and original drummer Mike Cesario will get back behind the kit for Twitching Tongues to fill in the vacancy sadly left by Sain.
As of right now, the band has live commitments lined up with the FYA X Fest and LDBBB Fest. Aside from that, however, it’s unclear how the band will move forward without Sain if Cesario is only on in a temporary basis. That being said, that should be the least of their concern at the moment, as we’re talking about a bandmate that suddenly passed away.
Sain was credited as having played drums for a wide range of projects including Twitching Tongues, Ghostemane, Betrayal, Fuming Mouth, God’s Hate, and other acts. His most recent studio recording came from Twitching Tongues’ Misfits covers EP titled Twitchfits Vol. 1, though he was also the drummer on record for Fuming Mouth’s 2019 album The Grand Descent.
According to official records, Sain passed away on Sunday at a residence in Los Angeles County. He was just weeks away from celebrating his 32nd birthday.
News of his passing began to circulate after 197 Media and Twitching Tongues released official statements via social media this past Sunday afternoon. In the hours that followed, numerous tributes were posted in honor of Sain, who was commonly described as incredibly loving individual. In one instance, Twitching Tongues vocalist Colin Young called Sain the “backbone” of the Southern California music scene and the reason the band was even able to continue in the first place.
Soon after his passing, a GoFundMe campaign was started that aimed to create a memorial fund. Though it had an initial goal of $10,000, that mark was shattered in a short amount of time. As of this post, the goal has been moved to $50,000 and through 466 donations they’ve raised nearly $36,000. All of that money will go to Sain’s memorial and related costs, as well as help the family take time off of work to process their grief.
If you would like to contribute to the GoFundMe campaign, be sure to head over to the page and donate what you can.
Our thoughts continue to go out to Sain’s friends, family, and bandmates during this difficult time.
