Amorphis Likely Won’t Have a New Album Until 2025
Fans of famed epic Finnish metal band Amorphis may not want to hold onto their breath for a new album, as it’s being heavily hinted hinted that the band might not have new music out in 2025.
The band currently have 15 full-length studio albums under their belt, each more progressive, strange, and nuanced than the last. When completed, their next album will be a follow-up to their 2022 record Halo.
In an interview with Tuonela Magazine, Amorphis guitarist Tomi Koivusaari shared the band’s upcoming plans when it comes to penning and recording new music.
“Now we have like a European tour in November and then a Finnish tour in December, and in spring we are going to have some South American tour. But at the same time, we are starting to check the new ideas and song ideas, so I guess the next album will be out in ’25 or something. So, we’re already thinking of a producer and working in the studio.”
Koivusaari also has a solo project, Bjørkø’s, that’s releasing a debut album via Svart Records. The band also features Opeth’s drummer Waltteri Väyrynen and Stratovarius’ bassist Lauri Porra.
Amorphis recently released a live album, Queen Of Time (Live At Tavastia 2021), featuring shows they played at Tavastia Club in Helsinki.
