Stabbing’s Bridget Lynch Has Been Killing It as She Fills In for Suffocation’s Ricky Myers on Tour

0

Shit happens while on tour that sometimes requires a little creativity and can-do spirit to address. Cars break down, equipment dies on ya, so on and so forth. In the case of the ongoing ‘Ancient Unholy Uprising’ Tour, a problem came up as Suffocation‘s frontman Ricky Myers came down with an illness. As the tour’s closing act, what do you do? If you have one of the fastest rising death metal outfits out on the road with you, you get their insanely brutal vocalist to fill in.

Over the last few nights, Stabbing frontwoman Bridget Lynch has been pulling double duty each night as she holds down both her band’s set and now parts of Suffocation’s as well. Ever since their stop in Detroit on November 14, Lynch has been behind the mic for a portion of Suffocation’s set. Joining the guys on stage is nothing new for her, as she’d been providing guest vocals on tour for a while now.

“I’ve been doing guest vocals on ‘Liege of Inveracity,’ and Terrance and Charlie pulled me aside maybe 15-20 min before their set yesterday to ask me if I could do the set, minus some songs. I was like, ‘Holy shit, are y’all fucking for real right now?’

“The place was packed and a lot of people came out for Suffocation, so it would be a bummer if they had to drop—the show must go on—so I said fuck it and did it. It was an honor and a dream come true, but I was also so nervous my legs were shaking. I just went on stage after they introduced me thinking, hey, I’ll do my best! Hopefully I did them proud.”

Apparently, Lynch has been holding it down during the portion of Suffocation’s set where they rip through “Catatonia,” “Pierced from Within,” “Funeral Inception,” “Liege of Inveracity” and “Infecting the Crypts.” For the rest of their set, Suffocation plays a buncha new songs without a vocalist.

We’re unsure what’s keeping Myers from the stage, nor do we know how much more time he’ll need before he can rejoin his band. But as long as he needs to get better, it seems like Lynch has got a hand on things in his absence.

If you’d like to watch Lynch throw down for Suffocation, be sure to check out the list of tour dates below and get yourself a ticket or two.
