Laura Jane Grace Had Some Choice Words About Jay Weinberg’s Removal from Slipknot

The news last week that Slipknot was moving on from drummer Jay Weinberg as part of a “creative decision” shocked fans all over the world. It spawned speculation about who the band will select as his replacement or even if they’ll continue at all. But for one person, it turns out all of this hubbub resulted in a blistering case of schadenfreude.

Over the weekend, Against Me! leader Laura Jane Grace made the rounds, in which she seemingly took some measure of comfort in the news. calling his ousting “poetic justice.” In the now deleted Twitter thread, Grace also called Weinberg a “little bitch boy” after hearing the apparently unsubstantiated claim that the drummer had initially learned of his removal via social media.

Laura Jane Grace Had Some Choice Words About Jay Weinberg’s Removal from Slipknot

You may or may not remember, but Grace and Weinberg were bandmates in Against Me from 2010 to 2012. Though we don’t know all of the interpersonal details between the two, we do know it all came crashing down when Weinberg announced he was leaving the band via social media — allegedly without telling the band or management first. Hence the “little bitch boy” comment.

Over the years, Grace has occasionally taken shots at Weinberg, once calling him a “shitbag” in a tweet where she offered a bit of good luck to Slipknot for picking the drummer as their Joey Jordison replacement.

In addition to Grace, Weinberg’s past also includes a falling out with hardcore outfit Madball. In that instance, frontman Freddy Cricien said the band let Weinberg go in Canada because “he has a lot to learn about paying dues, and about life in general.”

And while he said he’s been been left “heartbroken and blindsided” following his ousting from Slipknot, Weinberg’s will very likely land somewhere else. And if history serves us right, we’ll likely have Grace waiting in the wings to dunk on it.
