PETA Calls Aaron Lewis “Washed Up” Over Last Week’s Dead Coyote Dust-Up
Days after Staind frontman Aaron Lewis posted some serial killer level deranged shit using dead coyote carcasses to promote both his own solo tour and former President Donald Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign, it only made sense that PETA would have something to say about it.
Speaking with Billboard, PETA Senior Vice President Lisa Lange said the idea of using the bodies of recently hunted coyotes was a gross misuse of those animals, while also throwing some jabs at Lewis himself.
“How vile and pathetic that a washed-up musician, desperate for relevance, terrorized and killed animals to get a brief taste of the attention he obviously craves. Just like the dogs who share our homes, coyotes feel pain and fear and love their families, and because they’re one of the few species found in nearly every U.S. state, they’re beloved by many as America’s ‘song dog.’ PETA encourages Aaron Lewis to seek attention through some act of kindness, rather than slaughtering individuals who are simply trying to eke out an existence in an increasingly paved-over world.”
Now, we’re not going to say we’re necessarily in agreement with everything PETA says or does — far from it. But doing what Lewis did last week was fucking crazy. And we’re also not saying hunting coyotes is bad, either. Letting a predator run rampant that could cause problems in the region is not okay so it makes sense that hunters would cull coyote populations.
But our original post and this current one is purely criticizing how absolutely bonkers it is to use coyote carcasses for promotional gains.
Staind released their latest album Confessions Of The Fallen back in September 22 and Lewis is heading out on tour with his solo shit. Whether you want to support Lewis’ bullshit by attending shows and buying records is up to you.
