Ozzy Says His Next Surgery Will Be His Last: “I’m in a Lot of Pain”
Going to the hospital fucking sucks. It’s even worse when you’ve got to go under the knife for a major procedure. For Ozzy Osbourne, the need for continued medical assistance to fix issues with his neck and back has been going on for a long time now — and it’s just fucking over it.
The topic of Ozzy’s health came up once again in the second episode of The Osbournes podcast, which sees Ozzy, his wife Sharon, and his kids Jack and Kelly, talking about all sorts of things. During their conversation (as transcribed by Blabbermouth), they discussed Ozzy’s upcoming procedure to treat a gnarly spinal injury and other problems that he suffered following a quad bike crash in 2003.
Regardless of the outcome, Ozzy said his next procedure is going to be his last.
“Tomorrow I have my final surgery on my neck. Which it is gonna be the final surgery, because I can’t do it anymore. Regardless of the way it ends up after tomorrow, I’m not doing it anymore. I can’t.”
I can’t imagine having to go in and out of the hospital for multiple surgeries, but for Ozzy, it’s been so frequent over the years that he told Jack it was “just like going over for a fucking haircut now.”
“My lower back is, I’m going for an epidural soon because what’s happening, what they’ve discovered is the neck has been fixed, below the neck there’s two vertebrae where the bike hit me and disintegrated, there’s nothing left of ’em.
“All I know is right now, I’m in a lot of pain, I’m in a lot of discomfort.”
Ozzy’s ongoing health issues have forced him to cancel an European tour with Judas Priest and what was supposed to be an appearance at the Power Trip Festival. He’s said in the past that he desperately wants to get back on stage, but if he can barely move around, that’s looking like it might be a pretty big unlikelihood.
Either way, we hope Ozzy finds some comfort in his seventies and beyond.
