Blink-182’s Tom DeLonge Directed a Movie About Aliens (And It’s Coming Out in December)
When Blink-182 frontman Tom DeLonge first started talking about aliens, it seemed like a wild conspiracy theory. Since then, he’s proven that he takes it totally seriously and has worked with various groups centered around the topic. Now, his obsession comes to the big screen with his new movie, Monsters of California.
IMDB has the movie’s description listed as “Teenager Dallas Edwards, and his derelict friends on a quest for the meaning behind a series of mysterious, paranormal events in Southern California,” so while it may not be autobiographical in nature, it probably draws on some real life experiences.
The first trailer dropped in May 2022 but it’s just coming to my attention with a new trailer released less than 24 hours ago, which you can peep below. At the time, DeLonge provided a statement about the film to Collider:
“Anyone who knows me, or follows me on social media, knows I’m no stranger to the paranormal, which is why directing Monsters of California was a no-brainer. The film takes my fascination with the unexplained, combines it with the skate culture I grew up a part of, and tosses in my ridiculous sense of humor that millions got to witness during my Blink-182 days. In recent years, I’ve had the good fortune of helping the Government remember how much they care about UFOs through the work we do at To The Stars, and it’s that experience which helped inspire this movie. I can’t wait for audiences to see the f**ked up fun adventure these kids go on.”
The cast includes Richard Kind (Big Mouth, Curb Your Enthusiasm), Casper Van Dien (Starship Troopers), Arianne Zucker (Days of Our Lives), model Camille Kostek, Gabrielle Haugh (Jeepers Creepers 3) and acting newcomers Jack Samson, Jared Scott and Jack Lancaster. DeLonge is credited as the director, as well as writer alongside Ian Miller. It’s being released by DeLonge’s company To the Stars Media and features original music by DeLonge.
“Aliens Exi—” err, Monsters of California comes out on December 5, according to IMDB.
