King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard to Bring Their Three Hour “Marathon” Shows Back to the States Next Year
At what point do you have too much of a good thing? That’s the question Australian madcap outfit King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard will once again be posing to their fans during a string of shows across the U.S. next year.
The newly announced shows seemingly won’t have any supporting acts attached to them — which makes sense. Only four shows have been announced for 2024 so far, yet with the first one set to take place next August, so that should give plenty of time for fans to build up their endurance.
According to the band, the first show will take place on August 17 in Forest Hills, New York. The tour will then continue with stops in Chicago’s Huntington Bank Pavilion and Quincy, Washington’s The Gorge Amphitheatre on September 1 and September 14, respectively. The fourth and final show of the trek will take place on November 15 in Austin.
Tickets for these “marathon” shows will go on sale to the public this Friday, September 15 at 10 a.m. local time, with “Gizzymail” subscribers getting first crack at the tickets tomorrow, Wednesday 13. Though tickets will be handled via Ticketmaster, you’ll be able to purchase yours via Stubhub.
It should be noted that this isn’t the first time the band’s played three hour sets, nor is it the first time they’ve done so on American soil.
King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard released their 24th album PetroDragonic Apocalypse; or, Dawn of Eternal Night: An Annihilation of Planet Earth and the Beginning of Merciless Damnation back in June, so they’re sure to play some of those tracks live. Though who knows what their discography will look like by next August?
So what do ya think? Do you have a three hour show in you?
