Hurricane Idalia Forces Ghost to Cancel Their Two Florida Tour Dates
If you’re down in Florida and in the direct path of Hurricane Idalia, you likely have a lot more to worry about than just a pair of Ghost concerts. But if for some reason you still had it in your mind that you’d make your way to Daily’s Place in Jacksonville or the MIDFLORIDA Credit Union Amphitheatre for the show, just stay home because both gigs have been canceled.
The announcement came through the band’s official social media accounts, which released the following statement:
“Children of Florida!
“It is with heavy hearts we conclude that hell hath no shock rock show that matches the fury of Ms Idalia.
“That is another way of saying that our shows in Jacksonville and Tampa are unfortunately cancelled because of the storm.
“We’re terribly sorry about this and we wish for all of you to stay safe and take care of each other. We hope to see you again within not too long.”
According to the National Hurricane Center, Idalia had maximum sustained winds of about 120 miles per hour and had a path that would take it along the eastern seaboard. At those speeds, the National Weather Service warns that wind can cause “an extreme threat to life and property” and “catastrophic damage expected to man-made and natural structures.”
So yeah, please be safe and either get the fuck out of there or hunker down. However you plan to deal with the impending storm, just please stay safe.
