Megadeth Posted a Behind-the-Scenes Look at Wacken Performance with Marty Friedman
Earlier this month, fans in attendance at Wacken Open Air got to witness a really awesome thing happen when Megadeth once again welcomed ex-guitarist Marty Friedman on stage for a couple songs. Just like it was during their Budokan show back in Febraury, it was a great moment that helped bridge modern Megadeth with one of the band’s best eras.
As you can see in the video below, some preparation was needed before the band took the stage, but honestly — when you combine the insane talents behind Megadeth’s current lineup and mix it with the virtuosity that Friedman can provide, you get a killer performance. They probably barely even needed to rehearse but Kiko Loureiro was like “hey guys, we need YouTube content so let’s pretend we need to brush up on these iconic songs.”
The guitarist stuck around for three songs in total near the end of Megadeth’s set, ripping through the Cryptic Writings single “Trust,” the Rust in Peace classic “Tornado of Souls,” and the Countdown to Extinction hit “Symphony of Destruction.”
Friedman was a member of Megadeth from 1990 to 2000 and was featured in some absolutely iconic albums: Rust In Peace, Countdown to Extinction, Youthanasia, Hidden Treasures (EP), Cryptic Writings, and Risk.
Megadeth have a couple dates left in Europe at the moment. You can check out the list of remaining dates below the video.
