Dark Electronic Band Venera is a Collab Between Korn’s Munky and Composer Chris Hunt, New Single “Hologram” Out Now
Fans of dark and experimental electronic tunes will want to take a beat to check this new duo out, especially since it features Korn’s James “Munky” Schaffer and composer/filmmaker Chris Hunt. With their self-titled debut set for release on October 13 via Ipecac Recordings.
Though this project is new to us, their latest single “Hologram” is actually their second snippet of the band’s debut effort, with the track “Swarm” getting out late last month. According to both members of the group, “Hologram” was the result of their first ever time working together.
“’Hologram’ emerged quickly from our first session together. A nearly unchanging drum machine pattern nested in warbling guitars. We don’t interact much with holograms but they seem to offer an image of an alluring emptiness and light, which resonates well with the universe we are driven to explore.”
Along with Schaffer and Hunt, “Hologram” features a ssssspecial guest vocals and piano work by Rizz, of VOWWS. And while she adds something special to the track, she’s not the only guest that’ll be featured on the record. According to the band, the following artists are also involved:
- Deantoni Parks (Mars Volta, John Cale) plays on “Erosion” and “Disintegration,”
- HEALTH’s Jacob Duzsik contributes vocals on “Ochre”
- Alain Johannes lends his voice to “Triangle.”
Venera will be released on October 13 via Ipecac Recordings, but you can preorder your copy today.
