Gorgoroth Guitarist Badly Injured in Attack
A real shitty situation took place earlier this month in Bergen, Norway that we’re only just now learning about, as Gorgoroth guitarist Infernus was attacked and badly injured by an unnamed individual.
According to a statement from Infernus released earlier today (though it was dated for this past Saturday), the attack left him hospitalized and in need of a “fairly complex operation,” though he didn’t go into too much detail.
Though initial reports suggested this happened at or immediately following the Beyond The Gates Festival, the incident did not take place on the festival grounds. Instead, it happened on another date and at another location.
“a short clarification. dear all, i hope this finds you well. especially you who were in jaromer, czech republic, last weekend. some recent circumstances made me want to give a short comment on the current situation.
“shortly after our concert here in bergen, at the beyond the gates-festival, i was attacked by some fat little insignificant. i was badly injured and inhospitalized for a fairly complex operation. my band, friends and crew went – in accordance with my will – to the brutal assault festival in jaromer friday 11th. in a splendid way: they delivered. i am very proud. love and respect!
“as for the next weeks, focus will be upon recovery, rehabilitation and repercussions. some possibilities, including a mexican minitour in october, has been terminated. the first live show from today will be with massive music at iduna, drachten, holland november 30 2023.
“infernus, bergen august 12 2023 ps: no journalists will be granted an interview. without exception.”
As was said in his statement, Gorgoroth went on to perform over the weekend at the Brutal Assault Festival in the Czech Republic. The same can’t be said about an October mini-tour through Mexico that’s not going to happen now.
Oh and I totally get not wanting to talk to any journalists while you heal. I’m one and even I wouldn’t want to talk to 99% of my colleagues if I was attacked by some jackass at a concert. We at MetalSucks wish Infernus nothing but a quick and complete recovery.
