Thoughtcrimes Release Their New Single “Natural Imprudence”
It’s been roughly a year since Long Island-based band Thoughtcrimes dropped their album Altered Pasts, but it’s looking like the frenetic, madcap outfit is coming back with some new tunes.
Earlier today, the band featuring ex-The Dillinger Escape Plan dummer Billy Rhymer, dropped their latest single “Natural Imprudence” on the masses. According to the band, the song is a “sarcastic dig at how we continuously acquiesce to the ever-growing automation.”
As you can expect, the song is frenetic and wild, with tons of insane rhythms and sounds coming at you in all directions. Rhymer said this track was inspired by tech and was particularly challenging to put together.
“The initial inspiration came about with a conversation Russ and I had about HM-2 distortion. He then brought his Evil Ned pedal to my place and we made a demo. This is probably the fastest we have written and released a track. We are all excited to share something that is still fresh even to us.”
When it comes to the accompanying video, vocalist Rick Pepa said Rhymer also had a heavy hand in its production.
“Interestingly, Billy had came up with a visual concept and title that had all these unintended parallels to what I was writing before we showed each other our cards so to speak. It was exciting to have an almost accidental continuity bringing the new material together. Lyrically, it takes a tongue-in-cheek approach to processing the anxieties of an uncertain future and society by calling it out and challenging it.”
