Gridlink Ease Up on the Grind for Their Latest Single “Silk Ash Cascade”
Nearly a month ago, we were absolutely stoked to find out that New Jersey technical grindcore act Gridlink were making a comeback after a nearly decade-long hiatus. Just that news alone was enough to get us unbelievably hyped, but then after they also dropped their first new song “Coronet Juniper” and announced a new album of the same name — we were beyond excited for what was coming next.
Today, our friends over at Metal Injection managed to snag the premiere for the band’s second single, “Silk Ash Cascade” and I gotta agree with their assessment. This song is less about the insane amounts of grind the band’s known for and instead lays out their musicianship through some killer grooves and harmonies. As the opening track to Coronet Juniper, this single makes a whole lot of sense.
Now, that’s not to say this album is going soft. If you heard “Coronet Juniper,” you’ll know that’s not the case in the slightest. That’s not even to say that about this track, since it absolutely kicks ass. And having heard the rest of the album ahead of time, I can also concur with ol’ Greg Kennelty over there — this one is going to blow your fucking pants off. Count on it.
As of today, Gridlink is comprised of guitarist Takafumi Matsubara, vocalist Jon Chang, drummer Bryan Fajardo, and bassist Mauro Cordoba.
Coronet Juniper will be released on September 15 via Willowtip Records, but you can preorder your copy today.
