Incantation Stomp Toward the Slaughter with Lyric Video for “Homunculus (Spirit Made Flesh)”
Death metal stalwarts Incantation are just a month out from the release of their upcoming album Unholy Deification and they’re making a case for you to pick the damn thing up with the lyric video for its second single, “Homunculus (Spirit Made Flesh) IX.”
Featuring creepy AI art and the grinding, doomy death metal you’d come to expect from Incantation, the video highlights the sheer desolation and brutality found in “Homunculus.”
Speaking on the new album’s themes and the band’s approach when writing Unholy Deification, frontman John McEntee said it was never about doing death metal by the numbers.
“I’m not interested in playing it safe, I think other people feel that there are limits to what we do. However, I don’t see it that way. If it feels right, then it’s Incantation. The songs we write are an honest expression of ourselves. When people hear the new album, I hope they think, “Why are these guys so pissed off?!” Rage gives focus, which is why this album turned out the way it did.”
The new track comes just as the band is about to head out on their short Australian “Tricennial of Blasphemy” tour. They’ll be hitting up Adelaide’s Crown and Anchor Hotel this Thursday, with three additional dates lined up until the end of the month. You can check out the list of dates below.
Unholy Deification will be released on August 25 via Relapse Records, though you can preorder or presave your copy today.
