Nine-Year-Old Kid Holds It Down in This Pantera Cover

The world should find comfort in the fact that I do not plan on continuing my bloodline. Kids seem like a massive pain in the ass to raise and insanely expensive too. But when it comes to watching the kids at the O’Keefe Music Foundation covering some of metal’s favorite tunes, I sometimes question my stance on parenthood — if only for a microsecond.

Take the foundation’s recent cover/music video featuring nine-year-old K8 (get it, Kate?) from Texas, whose absolutely adorable rendition of Pantera‘s “Domination” is sure to bring a smile to your face. Joined by Jacob Wehn on drums (Pennsylvania), Xander Markewich on lead guitar (Alaska), Dominic Donile on rhythm guitar (Ohio), and Jonas Miller on bass (Ohio), it’s an ensemble that kicks ass. The guitar work is particularly impressive, as they nail Dime’s solo, harmonies included and everything.

For those not in the know, the O’Keefe Music Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit in Ohio that’s given kids a place to experience music creation in a professional-level environment. They offer music lessons, recording sessions, and film accompanying music videos for free, regardless of their family’s economic status.

As metalheads, we’ve all got to give it to the O’Keefe Music Foundation as well, since a lot of their videos feature metal songs, from Tool’s “46 and 2” to Slipknot‘s “Psychosocial.” You have to imagine a lot of the younger kids never heard any of this music before, so not only are they learning how to play music, but they’re getting exposed to metal. And that’s only good for the genre.
