Elton John is a Nova Twins Stan

Whoever had “dude who wrote ‘Rocket Man’ is a huge fan of a modern nü-metal band” on their bingo card for 2023 must be soiling their britches right no, because as it turns out, Sir Elton John has publicly gone on the record praising London’s Nova Twins.

While speaking with BBC’s Clara Amfo, John said the band “could light up Sheffield” when they take the stage at the upcoming Glastonbury Festival.

“These girls rock my world. I’ve had them on the show, I’ve played their music, too. It’s so wonderful, what they do. I’m so looking forward to seeing them live because you can feel what it’s going to be like. They are are just, for me, phenomenal.

“These girls could light up Sheffield. They are just phenomenal, the way their videos look. It reminds me of Rick James a bit, Larry Graham of Central Station, Sly and the Family Stone, it’s got that kind of… Bootsy Collins [vibe]. Nova Twins, I love you to death and they’re going to storm Glastonbury. If they come on stage and it’s a sunny day, they could steal the whole thing.”

That’s some huge praise from one of the biggest artists alive today. I mean, the dude gave us Goodbye, Yellow Brick Road for fuck’s sake — he knows a thing or two about music. Couple that with the fact that he’s got contribution credits with everyone from Eminem to Queens of the Stone Age and one thing is abundantly clear: he pays attention to modern music.

Naturally, getting support from Elton John must be absolutely mind-blowing if you’re a British act. So it only makes sense that the band reacted in kind on social media.

When you switch on the TV and THE @eltonjohn is holding up our album Supernova!! ???????????? Huge love to Elton for picking us as one of his top 4 @glastofest ones to watch and of course @claraamfo for her endless love! ❤️‍????

Gonna play the show of our lives on Sunday ⚔️ Other Stage at 1:45pm. Catch it live on @bbciplayer if you’re at home xxx
