Corrosion of Conformity, D.R.I., and More Announced for the First-Ever Heavy Chicago
Over the course of two weekends in the Windy City, a new type of festival will host a slate of kick ass crossover, stoner, and psych metal acts for the inaugural Heavy Chicago. And it’s all taking place in Chicago’s newest music venue, Avondale Music Hall.
Set to take place on Saturday, October 28, Saturday, November 4, and Sunday, November 5, fans can decide if they only want to attend a single day or if they want the full Heavy Chicago experience and catch all three days. Either way, the list of bands below are just what’s been announced so far, as they plan on bringing some more acts into the fold:
OCTOBER 28
Trouble
Acid King
Bongzilla
Novembers Doom
& more to be announced!
NOVEMBER 4
Corrosion Of Conformity
Nebula
The Crosses
& more to be announced!
NOVEMBER 5

Macabre
& more to be announced!
According to organizers, some of the already announced bands are slated to perform some special sets for all attendees. For example, DRI will be celebrating 40 years of their album Crossover, while The Crosses will feature Die Kreuzen singer Dan Kubinski for an “all Die Kreuzen” set. In fact, Heavy Chicago is the only 2023 date for grindcore act Repulsion.
Ticket presales will kick off this Friday, June 23 until the general public will get a crack at getting tickets the following day, Saturday, June 24 at the Heavy Chicago website. Ticket options include a three-day pass for $100, two-day passes for the latter two shows for $80 and a special “23 hour only” two-day pass for $70. Single night tickets will also be available at a later date.
