Trivium’s Matt “Metal Dad” Heafy Once Again Stopped a Show to Help a Fan in Trouble

0

If you’re ever going to be sick during a concert or potentially put yourself at risk of breaking your damn neck crowdsurfing, I hope it’s during a Trivium show. Not because I want you to get hurt or suffer in any way, but rather because we’d all be able to rest easy knowing the band’s frontman Matt Heafy will do what he can to make sure you’re going to be okay.

Last week, Heafy jumped down from the stage to catch a fan that was crowdsurfing when he noticed security wasn’t in the area to catch them. This week, we have footage of Heafy stopping the show to help security and medical personnel get to and assist a fan experiencing health issues. It all happened during their gig at Tempe, Arizona’s Marquee Theatre.

As you can see in Heafy’s social media post about the incident, the band were in the middle of the song when he stopped the music, asked for the house lights to be turned to the crowd, and began directing traffic among fans so they could clear a away for professionals to tend to the fan.

In his post, Heafy said he might “need a new stage name” after everything that’s happened during the tour’s recent stops. We don’t know what issue that fan was dealing with at the time, but we hope they were alright.

Given the number of incidents involving fans, you may be a little reticent to attend the final two U.S. stops of Trivium’s tour with Beartooth, but that would be ridiculous. Both bands put on a great show and hell — you know that if something goes wrong, Matt “Metal Dad” Heafy will be there to help.
