Bryce Paul Quits In Flames, Ex-Dillinger Escape Plan Bassist to Fill In

In a rather unexpected move, Swedish metal outfit In Flames took to social media to announce that their bassist of the last five years Bryce Paul had decided he was done playing with the band and opted to “step away.”

The news came earlier today, after the band performed at Greece’s Release Athens Festival. Filling in for Bryce Paul was former Dillinger Escape Plan bassist Liam Wilson, who the band also announced would be stepping in for the time being.

Bryce Paul had been with the band since 2018, having initially joined to replace long-time bassist Peter Iwers, who departed back in 2016. Since then, Bryce Paul had been featured in each of the band’s studio releases since 2019’s I, the Mask.

No reason was given as to why the departure took place. According to In Flames’ scheduled tour plans, their next performance will be at Hellfest in France later this month, as they continue along the European summer festival circuit.
