Bret Michaels Must Have Missed Mötley Crüe’s Sets If He Thinks Everyone on Last Year’s Stadium Tour ‘Was Great’
I’m not sure how anyone could defend Mötley Crüe‘s recent performances, especially as more and more footage comes out to prove they’re past their prime, but Poison frontman Bret Michaels gave it a shot.
During a recent interview with Eddie Trunk, Jim Florentine, and Don Jamieson on the weekly YouTube series That Rocks, Michaels looked back on the tour that brought Poison, Def Leppard, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, and Mötley Crüe together for a huge stadium tour last year. In his talk (as transcribed by Blabbermouth), he had nothing but nice things to say about everyone involved.
“I wanna make very clear: I’m a big fan. Joan Jett was incredible. The first band was Classless Act. They were great — great musicians. Joan, same thing; the playing was great.
“When you think about this, every rock band… You want it to be dark [out when the band is performing outdoors]. You’re, like, ‘I wanna see the lights, the pyro,’ all this stuff that Poison and myself have done for years. But the opportunity to go out there and…
“I’m a big fan of Def Leppard, a big fan of Mötley Crüe. And everyone on that tour was great. Everyone got along. I’d go out and see their shows. You see all the pictures of Tommy [Lee, Mötley Crüe drummer] on the side of the stage watching us play. I’m up there, hanging out, watching Joan and Def Leppard. Honest to God, it was a great moment.”
After more people share video of Vince Neil just sucking it up on stage every night, how can anyone really say Mötley Crüe are doing their legacy a service?
I don’t know about you, but Michaels seems like he’d be a pretty chill dude to chat with. He’s obviously not going to shit on anyone during an interview like that, but I just don’t know how he can say Mötley Crüe sounded good. Sure, musically they were good, but how much of that was backing tracks? …Allegedly…
