Toyah & Fripp to Take Their YouTube Show All Over the U.K. This Fall
Your YouTube algorithm may have finally recovered from all the strangely kinda sexy rock covers by Toyah Willcox and King Crimson guitarist Robert Fripp, but I regret to inform you that if you live in the U.K., your local venues may no longer be safe from their antics this fall. And that’s because the pop star and her King Crimson guitarist for a husband will be taking their YouTube show on the road.
It’s been a minute since we checked in on the rock and roll covering couple, but the long-time lovebirds that have been married for nearly 40 years have been steadily filming fun rock covers on their channel for a while now. With Fripp playing guitar and Toyah singing along in a revealing outfit, it’s a combination that’s not driven their “Sunday Lunch” series to be viewed by more than 111 million people.
Their U.K. fall tour, dubbed the Robert & Toyah Sunday Lunch Rock Party 2023 Tour, will see the two backed up by the “Posh Pop” band for renditions of classics like David Bowie’s “Heroes” and Dead Kennedys’ “Too Drunk to Fuck,” along with some of Toyah’s songs “It’s A Mystery” and “I Want To Be Free.”
The plan for a Toyah & Fripp tour was originally announced last June, though something seemingly got in the way of them following through any earlier. With an eye on their upcoming tour dates, Willcox said she expected each stop to be a good time for everyone that comes out.
“We are so excited to be bringing our new Rock Party show to towns and cities across the UK. This will be a rock show, with a full rock band — an uplifting party of a show. Be ready to party, be ready to dance, be ready for some serious vocals from me and some serious rock guitar from Robert!”
So there ya go. Your YouTube feed is coming to life, but only if you live in the U.K. at the moment. You can check out the full list of dates, as well as potentially get tickets, below.
