Ronnie Radke Apparently Canceled Two Shows Because of the Venue’s “Cold Air”

No artist likes to cancel a show, but unfortunately for Falling In Reverse fans, frontman Ronnie Radke had to put the kibosh on two shows over the weekend in Florida despite not being sick. The band was scheduled to play on Saturday, April 22 for Earthday Birthday 2023 and Sunday, April 23 for Planet Band Camp.

Radke announced the cancellations in a pair of social media posts, where he initially told fans that his vocals weren’t up to snuff and that he needed to “save it for the rest of this tour.”

“What’s up Orlando? I just want to let you guys know one more time that I’m so sorry. I love Orlando, I love the fans there we have a lot of fans there. We haven’t played there in a long time. I know there’s a lot of you waiting for us. Very sorry to the radio station one more time.

“My voice sounds a little better today, I’m gonna try to play St. Augustine tonight. Just want to let you guys know that I feel really bad. I really do I love Orlando. I’ll be back though, I promise you I’ll be back very soon. I’m trying to figure this out. See you guys”

The next day, Radke had to post another video to social media, this time explaining that he was unable to perform in St. Augustine. This time, he blamed the fact that the air in the venues were too cold and that as a result, there’s no moisture in the air. Those conditions, he said, negatively affected his voice.

“Yo man, I’m sorry, I tried guys. Just want to let you guys know I can’t do the show today. I need one more day of rest and the next show I’m going to be able to do for sure. It happens sometimes guys, there’s a lot of bands that have to do this, so I’m sorry. I’m not sick, I don’t have – it’s just the cold air in one of these venues, there’s no moisture. You can hear it in my voice.

“So I got to take care of my voice, and I love you guys. I know there’s gonna be some mad people. You guys are gonna be super mad, I know. You brought your kids and stuff like that. There’s nothing I can do about it. I gotta take care of my voice. I love you guys, I promise you I’ll come back very soon, promise. Bye””So I got to take care of my voice, and I love you guys. As you may or may not know, vocalists have to contend with their immediate environment in order to perform. Singers are typically told to keep their vocal chords warm when performing in cold environments and moisture helps ensure that you don’t strain when performing. I’m sure that’s putting it way too simply, but that’s the gist of it.

And while we’re not one to defend Radke for some of the other shit he’s been accused of or dealing with seemingly on the regular, it’s definitely possible that those cold and dry conditions you typically find in a domed stadium could affect a vocalist’s performance. If you try to push beyond those conditions, you can end up seriously fucking up your voice, so it’s good on Radke that he’s taking care of himself.
