Pupil Slicer Go Sci-Fi as Hell with “Blossom,” the Title Track Off Their Newly Announced Album
The sophomore album for extreme mathcore outfit Pupil Slicer is coming and it’ll be here sooner than you think. Titled Blossom, the album apparently sees the London-based band be less raw and biographical in favor of taking a personal story and filtering it through a futuristic, sci-fi narrative.
Coming out June 2 via Prosthetic Records, Pupil Slicer guitarist and vocalist Kate Davies said the new record takes all kinds of inspiration from different musical genres and different sci-fi classics from all kinds of mediums, including books, movies, and video games.
“Blossom is the culmination of 2 years spent with razor focus on crafting a journey like no other. We are incredibly proud of the feats we have achieved on our sophomore album, building upon the experience and feedback from our debut to further break down the walls between metal, hardcore, shoegaze, electronic music and pop.
“We have delivered the most concentrated Pupil Slicer experience yet. A hard sci-fi/cosmic horror concept album, the story told across Blossom draws on some of my favourite media to craft these 10 tracks where instrumental, lyrical and visual elements have been cohesively refined to serve the world I have created.
“We are introducing the world of Blossom via the title track, the final point beyond time and space, a nexus of everything that could have been and a vantage point into everything that came before.”
A lot of those influences can be heard in the title track and first single off the album, “Blossom,” which you can watch/listen to below.
Blossom will be released on June 2 via Prosthetic Records, but you can preorder yourself a copy or presave it on your favorite streaming platform today.
