VOSH Drop Heavy, Synthy New Album
VOSH unleashed their debut album Vessel on March 3 via Trash Casual and just wrapped a tour with Clan of Xymox and Bellwether. if you’re craving some synth-heavy, industrial influenced metal with influences across the board, this record will deliver.
The band features Chris Moore (Repulsion, Coke Bust, The Rememberables) and Josephine Olivia (Blacksage). They cite influences ranging from Ministry, Sisters of Mercy, Zounds, and Killing Joke, and it also shows through on this album.
Olivia heads up the band, channeling frontwomen and men of the past across genres to put on a heavy and intense show. VOSH’s second single from the album, “Bleed As One,” was premiered with Metal Injection. She told them about the record:
“In a lot of ways, the process of creating Vessel, became our safe haven when our lives felt out of control. I think we all feel that it kept us grounded and secure when so much was uncertain. It became a conduit for our energy, and we’re grateful for that.
“We would spend most of our days just messing with different synth and drum sounds, experimenting with vocals and working out what resonated with us. Throughout it, our sound and the concept for what the album would become, grew. The mood of the music morphed many times, but we discovered that being open to change, being flexible and curious is rewarding. Being able to finally put our hands on a tangible piece of art that we created feels really incredible.”
Recorded at Moore/Olivia’s home in the Washington D.C. area, Moore looped in longtime collaborator/producer/engineer Kevin Bernsten from Developing Nations in Baltimore for an assist on the mix with Magnus Lindberg (Tribulation, Russian Circles, Lucifer, Hellacopters, Frida Hyvönen, etc) mastering the effort.
