Check Out Calugarul, a Killer Blackened Death Metal Act Done Entirely By a New York City Teen

What were you doing when you were 15 years old? I’m willing to bet that you haven’t done anything nearly as badass, epic, or metal as the teenager behind Calugarul. Based out of Brooklyn, New York, this act is a solo effort. The kid behind the music you hear below plays everything in the mix – vocals, guitars, drums, bass… everything.

Their second album, Infernal Shrieks Beneath, was released on February 3 and was the follow up to their 2021 release Dawning of Forgotten Lands. While their lyrics focus on life, death, religion, history, and all the kinds of themes you should expect from a black metal act, they have a killer sound that’s hard to deny.

Admittedly, they’re a relative unknown that should definitely get some more attention in the black metal community. So check out the video below and seek them out on Spotify and Apple Music
