Jon Schaffer’s Still Snitching on His Fellow Traitors

More than two years after he tried to show his support for law and order by threatening cops and storming the U.S. Capitol, Iced Earth’s Jon Schaffer is proving to be one of the biggest stool pigeons in the federal government’s January 6 investigation.

Earlier this week, Schaffer’s attorney Andrew C. Marcantel of Attorneys For Freedom Law Firm filed a status report that explains the guitarist’s continued involvement and cooperation with the investigation.

“The Defendant’s cooperation plea agreement was the first plea of the several hundred Capitol Riot cases and has involved cooperation in the largest conspiracy arising out of the incident that has been indicted to date. He has remained cooperative with law enforcement since his release, and his cooperation is ongoing.”

As an apparent “founding lifetime member” of the military LARP/alt-right/fascist organization the Oath Keepers, Schaffer was the first person involved in the January 6 Capitol Riot case that managed to reach a plea deal with the government. He’s since admitted to entering the Capitol armed with bear repellent in an attempt to overturn the certification of the 2020 U.S. Presidential election, entered a guilty plea to two of the six charges brought against him after the riot: “Obstruction of an Official Proceeding” and “Entering and Remaining in a Restricted Building or Grounds with a Deadly or Dangerous Weapon.” The former charge carries a prison sentence of up to twenty years; the latter charge, ten, although prosecutors and Schaffer’s attorneys agreed to recommend that his sentence be between three and a half and four and a half years in prison depending on the results of his cooperation. The sentencing decision will be handed down by federal Judge Amit Mehta, who is overseeing the case.

As a result of his plea deal, Schaffer “remains on release under the supervision of the District of Columbia Pre-Trial Services Department” and has the following limits placed upon him while he awaits sentencing:

• He must submit to court supervision in the Northem District of Indiana.
• He will surrender his passport and any other international travel documents.
• He must stay outside of Washington, D.C. except for court hearings and meetings with attorneys.
• He will be permitted to travel within the continental United States with notice to pretrial services.
• He cannot possess any firearms or explosive devices, including legally owned firearms. Any firearms must be removed from his home.

Marcantel submitted a request to file another joint status update near the next of March. Schaffer is just one of 31 members of that group and the Proud Boys that were charged in December 2021 for their involvement in a “coordinated act of domestic terrorism.”

Authorities hope that if Schaffer and his fellow turncoats are found guilty, that they can be held liable for a massive sum of money spent by the district responding to the crisis. We’re talking police costs, medical bills, the whole shebang.

This is a far cry from the time when Schaffer was suddenly hiding from the feds, but at least he’s squealing on his fellow traitors.
