REMEMBER WHEN TOOL WAS AN “ALTERNATIVE” ROCK BAND?
The normally indie-centric blog Quarter Life Party has been running an excellent feature called Progiverse, a lengthy series of posts focusing on album artwork and live videos from prog bands across the board, spanning Yes to Coheed & Cambria, King Crimson to Porcupine Tree, the almighty Tool and many more. From their collection of live Tool videos (album artwork collection here), here’s a gem of a very young version of Tool performing “Sober” at what looks to be the Reading Festival in the UK.
Dig Maynard’s pony-mullet and then-bassist Paul D’Amour’s stage presence; the dude is moving about 10 times too much for any member of Tool. In addition to Justin Chancellor, I guess they replaced that dude with videos and lasers. Lasers!!!
