Dimmu Borgir, Gorgoroth, and Six Other Bands Confirmed for Beyond the Gates
Next August may feel like a long time from now, but that doesn’t mean you can’t begin planning a trip out to Norway for next year’s Beyond the Gates festival. Four days of metal in Bergen, Norway sounds like a hell of a time regardless of who’s playing, but earlier today the organizers announced the first eight bands on their lineup and god damn, is it already killer.
According to a post on the festival’s social media accounts, Dimmu Borgir, Gorgoroth, Marduk, Pentagram, Midnight, Eternal Champion, Negative Plane, and Sijjin are all confirmed for the festival that’s slated to take place from August 2 to 5, 2023.
Dimmu Borgir’s involvement will apparently be the band’s only live performance in 2023, as they’ll headline the “Grieghallen Messe MMXXIII” event. It will also be the band’s first trip back to Bergen in over 10 years. This will also be the first time Gorgoroth will perform at Beyond the Gates, even though they hail from the area.
As usual, organizers said the festival will also feature special events, talks, tours, exhibitions, fares, and a return of the Beyond the Ink tattoo convention.
As more details come out about the Beyond the Gates festival, we’ll be sure to keep you guys informed. If this is all you need to know however, you can get tickets today. After all, what better way to spend your accrued vacation days than to head to a Nordic country for multiple days of metal and other events?
After the biggest and most successful Beyond the Gates to date, we have recharged and reload for the next chapter in the history our festival. Needless to say we’re extremely excited with the way things are shaping up.
Today we present you the first batch of bands that will make Beyond the Gates: Chapter XI a festival for the books. Giants, Dimmu Borgir, will visit the festival for the first time for a very exclusive concert. Dimmu Borgir will headline the mammoth “Grieghallen Messe MMXXIII” event that will once again take place in the revered and spectacular concert venue that is Grieghallen. This will be Dimmu Borgir’s only show in 2023 and their first visit to Bergen in over a decade.
Bergen’s own Gorgoroth will make their first appearance at the festival with a show that will most definitely turn heads. They will be joined by stoner pioneers, Pentagram, black metal juggernauts, Marduk, heavy metal shooting stars, Eternal Champion, the furious Midnight and extreme metal gold in the shape of Negative Plane and newcomers, Sijjin.
Beyond the Gates 2023 will be hitting stages around the city center of Bergen, including main stages Grieghallen and USF Verftet. And finally, there will be an extensive The Night and Day Shift program at Kulturhuset.
The festival will be packed to the hilt with concerts of all formats, events, talks, tours, exhibitions, fares, and a much-welcomed return of the Beyond the Ink tattoo convention.
See you in 2023!
