No, The Dillinger Escape Plan Aren’t Reuniting for Furnace Fest
Earlier today, former Dillinger Escape Plan and current Thoughtcrimes drummer Billy Rymer stirred up a ton of speculation on the internet that the band was coming back together, but that’s not going to happen.
Rymer posted a video on his Instagram post that featured him typing out a setlist with “Furnace 2023” barely visible up top. Naturally, that caused fans to pop off about a potential reunion at the Birmingham, Alabama festival. But here’s the issue – this was apparently wishful thinking on Rymer’s part and has since been deleted.
Shortly after the video began making the rounds, a fan asked former guitarist Ben Weinman about the post, asking “what is rumbling about Furnace Fest Sir Weinman?” Weinman splashed some cold water on the idea of a reunion by simply saying it was all a misunderstanding.
“nothing. Billy said it was a dream or some shit. I really hope people don’t buy tickets to furnace fest for this.”
The Dillinger Escape Plan ended on a pretty final note a few years ago, so while it would be cool to see these guys fucking tear it up again, I’m personally glad they’re shooting to be the one band that actually sticks to their guns on this issue. After all, everyone seems to be doing well with their own things.
