Buy Some Cool Sh*t and Save Some Animals at the Same Time
Animal Tracks, a non-profit animal shelter in Agua Dulce, California, is in dire need of assistance. It’s looking grim but you, the MetalSucks reader, can help. From now until November 15, the first of multiple auctions will be under way to raise money for the shelter and get some kick ass metal memorabilia into your greasy paws.
For example, you now can bid on a Sabian X-Treme Chinese Crash cymbal signed by Ministry drummer Roy Mayorga and guitarist Cesar Soto. Other bands are also lined up with special memorabilia to help the shelter, including Black Veil Brides and Lamb of God.
Animal Tracks Inc. is a 501c3 that gives animals rescued from the illegal wildlife trade or retired from the entertainment industry a second shot at life. Sadly, whether it’s a pack of injured hybrid wolves or a primate with lymphoma, these animals are unfit to be released back into the wild. As a result, Animal Tracks does everything humanly possible to provide a wonderful quality of life for each animal there.
Prior to the COVID lockdowns, the shelter sustained itself by allowing educational visits to the sanctuary. Small groups of people could come and learn about each species and were only asked to make a minimum donation to the shelter. After those lockdowns, however, zoning issues forced them to stop allowing public visits. So now they have to move but that can’t happen when money’s not coming in.
Since the pandemic started, numerous music talents donated memorabilia to help raise funds. Artists like Corey Taylor, Steve Vai, Wes Boreland, Robert Trujillo, Phil X, John Tempesta, Stephen Perkins, Cherie Currie and many more have contributed to the cause.
So if you want to get a chance at some awesome, one-of-a-kind items from some of today’s biggest rock and metal artists, be sure to check out the shelter’s eBay page and keep an eye out for new items as they come up.
