Babymetal Announce Return to Anger Haters Once Again
It was a little over a year ago that the Japanese pop metal duo Babymetal announced that they were going to “disappear from sight” once they were done celebrating their 10 year anniversary. At the time, we didn’t know what that actually meant and for how long their hiatus would be. Yet today the band announced that not only would they be making a return in 2023, but they’ve already got a new 10-song concept album in the works.
Now, I know what most of the commenters are going to say: “Ugh, they’re not metal.” “Who cares?!” “Why are you reporting about this?!” My answers to that would be “yes they are.” “Tons of people – including people you respect – care.” And “because it’s newsworthy.”
According to the band, they’ve decided to “break the seal, making their return to Earth.” …Whatever that means.
Over on the band’s website, they’ve outlined their roadmap for their return, including the release of their first single back later this month. Ultimately there will be a new concept album titled The Other One releasing worldwide on Friday, March 24, 2023.
The concept album reveals the other side of the Babymetal story that until now remains untold. A total of 10 songs have been discovered within The Other One restoration project, with each song representing a unique theme based on 10 separate parallel worlds that they have discovered.
In addition to the new music, the band announced that they will be performing a two-day performance at Makuhari Messe International Exhibition Hall in Tokyo on January 28 and 29, titled “BABYMETAL RETURNS – THE OTHER ONE.“
The Other One will come out on March 24, 2023, with preorders available today.
So I guess we’ll hear back from Su-metal and Moametal later this month when they drop new music. Should definitely be… interesting.
