Get More Celtic Frost Than You Can Handle with the Danse Macabre Box Set
Over the band’s career, Celtic Frost has gone from thrashy, extreme metal to doom metal and blurred genres all over the place. Their place as an extreme and experimental band is cemented in time.
To celebrate the band’s early years, a massive box set will be released on October 28 in the UK and Europe and November 25 in North America dubbed the Danse Macabre Box Set. Spanning from 1984 to 1987, the set will include the albums Morbid Tales, To Mega Therion and ‘nto The Pandemonium, as well as the Emperor’s Return, Tragic Serenades and I Won’t Dance EPs and a 7” of “Visual Aggression” and a cassette of rehearsals recorded at the band’s Grave Hill Bunker.
Just all of that alone would be a ton, but the set also includes a 40ppage book of photography, including some unseen shots, and interviews with Tom Gabriel Warrior and Reed St Mark. And then there’s the loose extras included in the set, like a Heptagram USB drive that contains MP3 audio of all the albums, including bonus tracks, a Danse Macabre woven patch, a double sided poster, and a Necromaniac Union fan club enamel badge.
There’ll also be a five CD version of the box set, which will only come with the book, the badge, the poster, and the patch. There will also be a limited run of glow in the dark LPs for the set. There will only be 1,000 units of that variant made available via EMP and Nuclear Blast online.
To celebrate the coming release, an HD version of the music video for “Circle of the Tyrants” can be seen below.
