Watch a Re-Enacted KISS Concert In New Clip from Casablanca Records Founder’s Biopic
When you think of the rock royalty of the ’70s, a name that maybe doesn’t come to mind is Neil Bogart. But as the head of Casablanca Records, Bogart changed rock in ways we can’t even describe, signing a young KISS and shaping disco by releasing albums from Donna Summer and the Village People. Now, Bogart is the subject of a new biopic titled Spinning gold, a clip from which you can watch below.
In the clip, Bogart (played by Jeremy Jordan) is arguing with Aerosmith’s management while attending a KISS show. The band is then portrayed in their youth, with Casey Likes playing Gene Simmons and Sam Harris playing Paul Stanley.
As Neil’s son and Spinning Gold‘s director Tim Bogart told Variety, who exclusively premiered the clip from the film:
“Born Neil Bogatz in the Brooklyn projects where he plotted his dreams and schemes to escape from poverty, Neil Bogart was my father — and it’s taken me over 20 years to finally tell his story. And I know people say that all the time, but the first option on the film really was back in 1999. From there, through obstacles nearly as challenging as what my father faced in bringing Casablanca Records to the world, the obstacles in bringing this film to light were just as daunting.”
