Metal Star-Studded Vampire Flick The Virginia Bitches to Open at Cannes
Back in February, we reported on upcoming vampire movie The Virginia Bitches, which was to star Arch Enemy‘s Alissa White-Gluz, Lamb of God‘s Randy Blythe, and Maylene and the Sons of Disaster frontman Dallas Taylor, and would be produced and scored by Underoath‘s Chris Dudley. Now, according to Bloody Disgusting, the film is going to open at Cannes, one of the more renowned film festivals in the world, which should make showings exceptionally hilarious.
For the record, the plot of the film is as such:
The film follows a female vampire death metal band trapped in a town of cannibals led by a warlock.
We’re really excited for a bunch of European film snobs to watch this. Like, imagine you just walked out of some heartbreaking Oscar bait about bisexual dairy farmers in WWII Poland, and then you get to see Alissa White-Gluz rip someone’s throat out with her teeth. Amazing.
The film is directed by Scott Hansen, who’s done videos for Meshuggah, Suicide Silence, Deicide and Sevendust, and who directed the 2020 Trick ‘r Treat rip-off Halloween anthology movie Bad Candy (in which flyers for the titular band of this film can be seen).
Also starring in the movie are:
- Doyle Wolfgang Von Frankenstein (Misfits, Doyle)
- Lajon Witherspoon (Sevendust)
- Bill Mosley (House of 1,000 Corpses, The Devil’s Rejects, Bill & Phil with Phil Anselmo)
- Heidi Shepherd (Butcher Babies)
- Scott Ian Lewis (Carnifex)
- Lucas Mann (Rings Of Saturn)
- Efro Kinyonez (Saint Diablo)
Originally, Corey Taylor was being touted as one of the movie’s stars, but he put that to bed pretty quickly with the following statement:
“I’m not sure how this got started, but I want to be clear: I am NOT in a movie called ‘The Virginia Bitches.’ My apologies to the fans, those involved with the film and all the media outlets who are reporting on it. Thank you. -CMFT”
Keep your eyes peeled for our review of the film.
