Pam & Tommy: First Trailer Released
Hulu has released the first trailer for Pam & Tommy, their upcoming limited series about Mötley Crüe drummer Tommy Lee and Baywatch star Pamela Anderson’s infamous leaked sex tape.
Trailers can be misleading, so who knows if this actually means anything in terms of the show’s focus, but it seems worth noting that the trailer leans very heavily on the men who stole and sold the tape (played here by comedy gods Seth Rogen and Nick Offerman) and is considerably less focused on Pam (Lily James, Baby Driver) and Tommy (Sebastian Shaw, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier) themselves. Like, Tommy has two lines in the whole trailer, and Pam has three. Again, it doesn’t necessarily mean anything in terms of the series’ actual narrative — for we all know, they’re just leading with Rogen because he’s the biggest star onboard — but it could mean the story is more focused on Rogen and Offerman’s characters than we initially suspected.
Also a bit odd: the trailer is scored to Lenny Kravitz’s “Are You Gonna Go My Way.” I understand they probably don’t have the rights to any actual Mötley Crüe music (likely for reasons having to do with Hulu’s competitor, Netflix, owning the Crüe biopic The Dirt — Tommy Lee actually approves of this project, so it’s not like he’s blocking the filmmakers from using his tunes). Still. It feels like there are songs from the same era that would have been more appropriate.
ANYWAY, these little nitpicks aside, the trailer is pretty good. I’m excited to see this thing.

Pam & Tommy will reunite Stan with Craig Gillespie, director of 2017’s I, Tonya. It’s being written and executive produced by Robert Siegel (The Wrestler, Big Fan) and DV DeVincentis (High Fidelity, American Crime Story). In addition to Stan, James, Rogen, and Offerman, it stars Taylor Schilling (Orange is the New Black), comedian Andrew Dice Clay, Pepi Sonuga (Leprechaun Returns), Spencer Granese (Better Call Saul), and Mozhan Marnò (The Blacklist).
Mötley Crüe are scheduled to tour next summer with Def Leppard, Poison, and Joan Jett. Here are the dates:
