The Armed Announce Debut Feature Film Ultrapop: Live at the Masonic Temple
The Armed, one of the most inventive bands out there right now, have made a movie. Entitled Ultrapop: Live at the Masonic Temple, it’s described as “narrative-driven concert film” that’s “part [Beyoncé’s] Lemonade, part [Pink Floyd’s] Live at Pompeii, and fully infused with a sense of Lynchian dread.”
According to a press release, the film also “definitively shines a light on The Armed’s often-mysterious, collaborative structure,” which I know is a big mystery to a lot of fans (or me at least).
Ultrapop: Live at the Masonic Temple was directed by Tony Wolski, who between The Armed and Genghis Tron may very well be 2021’s MVP.
Watch a trailer below. You won’t be able to tell all that much about the movie from said trailer, but it’s clear that the David Lynch influence isn’t just hype.
The Armed’s label, Sargent House, will present digital screenings of Ultrapop: Live at the Masonic Temple starting on Friday, October 15 with a special in-person screening event happening the same day at Detroit’s El Club.
