Light the Torch Cancel Tour Over Covid-19 Concerns

Light the Torch (formerly Devil You Know), the band fronted by former Killswitch Engage singer Howard Jones, have pulled out of their planned September tour with Motionless in White, citing safety concerns for the band members and their crew amidst surging Covid-19 infection rates in the U.S.

Silent Planet and Dying Wish are still on as support acts for Motionless in White. It’s not yet clear if there will be a replacement for Light the Torch.

Posting on social media yesterday (Saturday, August 21), Light the Torch wrote:

“We are sorry to announce that we are pulling off of the September tour with Motionless in White and all of the festivals along the tour. We have concerns about the ability to keep ourselves and our crew healthy and the ramification we could incur if shows need to be cancelled in this current climate.

“We were really looking forward to playing for all of you again, supporting our new album, and sharing the stage with Motionless in White. Ultimately it was a very difficult decision, but one that we felt we had to make. We wish we had better news.

“At this point we just want to say thank you to all of our fans for your understanding. We couldn’t be a band without your continued support. Be careful and safe out there and we look forward to seeing you all again soon.”

The growing list of bands in the heavy music community to cancel shows or entire tours as a result of Covid-19 in the past few weeks as a result of Covid-19 includes Nine Inch Nails, Deftones, Korn, the Foo Fighters, Buckcherry, Limp Bizkit, Wolfgang Van Halen’s Mammoth WVH, Iron Maiden’s Bruce Dickinson, Intronaut, Pop Evil, The Skull, Alesana, and possibly Red Fang.

Covid-19 cases in the U.S. are currently at their highest levels since February, driven largely by unvaccinated people in the South and Southeast.
